Vanessa Buchanan Naturopathic Nutritionist surrounded by plants in a garden with a spade alongside her

Meet Vanessa

Hello, I'm Vanessa, a fully qualified Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist based in Lewes, East Sussex. I specialise in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.

I know from my own experience how difficult it can be when you're struggling with your health, particularly during pregnancy and the postnatal period. When you're caring for a family, it can be very easy to put your own needs at the bottom of the list, even when you are exhausted, overwhelmed or simply don't feel like yourself.

I believe that sometimes we all need a helping hand and a safe space to feel listened to and supported. My aim is to provide that support to women and families during what can be one of the most demanding and vulnerable times in their lives.

Through my work, I want to help women understand what is happening within their bodies, make sense of the connection between nutrition, hormones and mental wellbeing, and find practical ways to nourish and support themselves.

I don't believe in adding another long list of things to an already overwhelming life. Instead, I work alongside you to identify what matters most, make manageable changes and build strong foundations for your health and wellbeing.

Ultimately, I want you to feel heard, understood and supported, and to leave with a greater understanding of your own body and the confidence to look after yourself – because supporting the mother supports the whole family.

It was through discovering the powerful role of nutrition that I finally began to understand my own health, inspiring me to retrain so I could help other women do the same.

I trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine and have since completed training in DUTCH hormone test analysis, as well as Level 2 Counselling Skills. I also volunteer with PANDAS Foundation UK, supporting families affected by perinatal mental health challenges.

My approach is warm, compassionate and personalised. I combine nutritional therapy, advanced hormone testing where appropriate, and practical lifestyle support to help uncover the root causes of symptoms, so you can regain balance, improve your wellbeing and feel more like yourself again.

I am fully insured and I dedicate time each month to ensure I keep up to date with new ideas and research in Naturopathy and Nutrition. Continuous professional development ensures I am able to develop my skills and experience, reading books and articles and attending seminars and training courses.
